Swiss Biohealth

In the SWISS BIOHEALTH CLINIC we gently remove titanium implants according to the SWISS BIOHEALTH CONCEPT.

What are titanium implants?

Titanium implants are frequently used as dental prostheses in general dentistry. When teeth are lost, titanium implants are screwed into the jawbone. The advantages of them are that they can quickly and firmly become embedded in the bone and are very sturdy and relatively inexpensive. However, titanium implants can also cause problems, particularly when allergies and intoleranceoccur. Around 10-25 % of the German population no longer tolerates titanium implants and has an allergic reaction to the metal. What is more, titanium implants can exhibit an antenna effect, with 3G and 4G networks causing the surrounding bone to heat up.

What Are the Symptoms of Titanium Intolerance?

Tanium implants release titanium oxide particles into the surrounding tissue. Everyone reacts to this in a different way. With one kind of titanium intolerance, the patient reacts with “particle-induced inflammation.” In addition, the following symptoms may occur as well:

  • Chronic fatigue and exhaustion
  • Skin problems
  • Insomnia
  • Difficulties concentrating
  • Susceptibility to infections
  • Headaches and facial pain
  • Increased tendency towards inflammation

According to the Consensus Conference (2016), 80 % of patients with titanium implants suffered from gum inflammationwithin just five years. In turn, gum inflammation favors the development of heart disease, since the bacteria travel via the gums towards the heart.

Removal of titanium implants according to the SWISS BIOHEALTH CONCEPT

Titanium implants are removed without putting any stress on the body through a metal extraction process performed at the SWISS BIOHEALTH CLINIC. Using a special system (Implant Removal Set®, Neobiotech), it is possible in most cases to unscrew the titanium implants from the bone without causing the otherwise typical bone defect. In this way, a fully ceramic implant can be inserted directly once the patient’s state of health allows. Replacing titanium with a ceramic implant saves time, and the new implant can be directly screwed into the same bone cavity, thereby preventing bone loss.

How can titanium intolerance be determined?

Patients with titanium implants should always undergo the Melisa test and the titanium simulation test. These tests are the best way to determine titanium intolerance.

What causes titanium intolerance to increase?

Titanium oxide (= E171), also known as titanium dioxide, is a whitening agent that is also increasingly added to cosmetics, toothpaste, sunscreens, oral contraceptives, chewing gum or yogurt. This is leading to an increasing intolerance in the population to titanium. Moreover, even in its purest form, titanium contains 0.20% iron and traces of nickel, to which 80% of European women are allergic.

Ceramic Implants as an Alternative to Titanium Implants

With titanium implants, the gums never grow onto the metal. This leaves the “immunological gateway” always open, allowing bacteria to invade more easily.

In contrast, ceramic implants are special in that the gum grows onto the ceramic, thereby sealing off the “immunological gateway.”

Aesthetically, they have a decisive advantage over titanium implants due to their white color.

Treatment Procedure at the SWISS BIOHEALTH CLINIC

In preparation for the surgical intervention, BOOST should be taken for 2-4 weeks before the dental operation. The operation at the SWISS BIOHEALTH CLINIC lasts around 10 to 30 minutes per implant. Minimal swelling may occur. Following the operation, you should take 3 days off and rest while continuing to take Basic Immune for a period of 4 weeks.

Experiences with the removal of titanium implants

What are the experiences of our patients with titanium implants and their removal? In the video, one of our patients reports on her complaints with titanium implants and tells how she feels after the surgery and with the new ceramic implants.
